I’ve eaten here a few times but keep forgetting to take photos. Just had the tempura bento and that was amazing. Delicious kara age and kimchi pork. Lovely, friendly owner. My go-to in Barnstaple 😋

It doesn’t get much better. Fantastic sushi set served with a smile. Oh, and gluten free. We ordered a couple of days in advance and we weren’t disappointed. We have eaten here many times now and the food is always excellent.

Thank you for your feedback. We are happy you enjoyed it. From next week Wave’s will stock gluten free flour , opening up the menu to suit this dietary need. Please ask for a gluten free meal and we will be able to offer many more dishes

Absolutely delicious! The wife and I got a karage (fried chicken) bento and a steak donburi. Both were lovely. If I could have a conveyer belt delivering the karage straight into my mouth for the rest of my life, I could die a happy man! Even though it was fried chicken, it wasn't overly greasy at all! We'll definitely be back! Owners were lovely and very courteous. They had our meal ready for when we came out of Little Locks across the Arcade.

Excellent authentic Japanese food, beautifully prepared and cooked by Chiharu to order. The chicken and Pork is sourced from Besshill Farm shop so I know it's top quality. Really enjoyed my lunch, I'll be going back soon

First time trying tonight and most definitely a returning customer. The owner is super welcoming and warming. We had the tonkatsu bento ( Fried Pork ) super delicious and amazing arrange of flavours all in one box. Can’t wait to try the rest of the menu !

It’s lovely to have a Japanese place in Barnstaple. I had tempura donburi today. The tempura was very good, a nice mixture of vegetables and some fish. The donburi rice was excellent - the best I’ve had in the UK. Donburi rice can be a bit bland, this was really well seasoned and tasty.

Waves food is absolutely stunning. We were so hlad to discover this place whilst living in Barnstaple. Their Bento are fab and their sushi is a lot lot better than you'll typically find. Trying their food is an absolute must if you're spending time here. They might need 24 hours notice for the sushi so plan ahead and call the day before.

Authentic delicious Japanese food! We lived in Asia for a long time and are very familiar with Japanese food. This is the real deal. Owner is super friendly. We had tempura and karaage (fried chicken) bento boxes. We returned and tried donburi (main + sushi rice). If sushi rice (slightly vinegar flavored) is not for you, ask for normal rice substitute. Very reasonably priced for what you get.

Travelling from Dublin for a reunion with friends . We had the most beautiful, tasty food . They say you eat with your eyes this was 💯 % true for these dishes. This is the best food ive ever had honestly so good and the service is so friendly the lady in there is the nicest person ive ever met 10/10 food! Highly reccommend the katsu ni donburi, the kastu sandwhich and the sushi This is the best sushi and japanese food by far! ❤️❤️❤️

Fantastic, authentic Japanese food, beutifully prepared and presented. Pre-ordered as catering for 8. Tonkatsu, Karaage and Tempura bento were excellent as was the sushi box. Highly recommended this gem of a takeaway using top quality locally sourced ingredients.
